Crawl Space Encapsulation
Anyone with a crawl space knows if there are problems below the home, they're going to be problems in the home before too long. One of the most common types crawl space repairs we perform is what is known as encapsulation. This is the process of completely closing off the basement from the outside using a system of heavy duty liners and a sturdy, weatherproof door. Encapsulating the crawl space is the best way to ensure the area is both protected from outside weather as well as preventing any kind of animals or critters from moving in.
Once we've encapsulated your crawl space, we can control any excess humidity as well as unwanted moisture that has been a problem in the past. This will prevent the growth of dangerous mold and mildew in the area which can also attack the floor joists resulting in the need for sagging floor repair or potentially very costly replacements.
When we encapsulate a crawl space we use a vapor barrier on the walls and floors of the area. This is a heavy duty plastic liner that prevents water from entering when it rains or from excess humidity. Once installed, the crawl space can still be used for storage because the vapor barrier is very strong and will not tear easily. If there are still humidity issues after the crawl space has been encapsulated, we can install a dehumidifier specially designed for crawl space environments. This will control any excess humidity in there and prevent any future damage due to water or excess moisture.
